The original points distributor was not going to be reliable enough. I've never worked with points, nor do I want to do so. As I learned from my Grand Wagoneer, get the ignition upgraded immediately. So the points are gone, and a Mallory E-Spark is going in its place. But I didn't feel the need to get an entirely new distributor. While I'm in there, I'm also going to replace the vacuum advance.
The original/stock dizzy. It spins freely and isn't gunked up, so I'll take a chance on it.The inner workings. The points are right below the red fuzzy thing at about four o'clock.
Guts out.
The points and condenser. They may have been perfectly good, but better is better.
The mounting plate that gets the old and the new to work together.
This system works on a light sensor. Much more reliable.
Much cleaner inside.
All buttoned up and ready for installation.
