Dana 18 tear down

This tear down went much more smoothly than the T90, but there is one part that is still stuck on a shaft.  I'll deal with it using less aggression than before, I imagine.

To start, I removed the clip off the intermediate shaft and then pounded it out the back.  Note that I have the 1 1/4" intermediate shaft, the beefiest one ever offered in a Dana 18, making mine a model from '55-'66, I believe.  If the overdrive and the transfer case were built at the same time, this would narrow my transfer case to the '63-'66 window since the first overdrive didn't come out until 1963, if my research is correct.
This is just another bracket.  It wasn't hooked up to anything when I pulled the case, but I'm sure I'll discover its value when the time comes.
Got the intermediate gears out.
Tire foam again.  Lots of sludge on the front and rear bearing caps to cut through to get the socket to seat firmly.
Inside this little hole are two springs and two balls, both of which help with the interlock mechanism preventing the transfer case from being shifted into 2WD Low.
Getting the shift fork out of the front bearing cap required consistent pressure but not great force.  I'll remove the various seals later.
I pried the smaller gear back to get access to that snap ring.  Yes, another snap ring.  But a pick and some screwdrivers made rather quick work of it.
More parts removed.
The case, cleaned up a little.  I'll give it a good scrub down and a lick of paint soon enough.
